Murphy\, age 29\, died while serving in Afg hanistan on June 28th\, 2005 and was the first member to receive the Med al of Honor for his service in the Middle East on May 24th\, 2015.\nLt. Michael Murphy was known as a CrossFit Enthusiast and had a favorite wor kout that he called "Body Armor" since he did it with a weighted vest. T hat workout would later become "The MURPH".\n\nThe CrossFit company deci ded to officially name the famous workout "The MURPH" in Murphy's memory on August 18th\, 2005 and is known as a Hero WOD (workout of the day).
