    Design Standards for the Historic District<\/h1>\n

    The historic center of Springville City is a unique neighborhood of houses and commercial buildings that have defined people\u2019s perceptions of our community for many years.<\/p>\n

    Over the past several years, the City has been involved in efforts to help stabilize this area economically and socially through zoning, recognition of the history of the area, and Main Street right-of-way improvements. In a continuation of these efforts to help stabilize this area, the Planning Commission has directed the creation of design standards for new construction in the area. If adopted, the general standards will apply to all new construction.<\/p>\n

    One of those standards will direct builders to design new houses and additions that are based on\u00a0five approved types of architecture found in Springville historically. These historic types are described in\u00a0five pattern books with the following names: Vernacular Classical, Victorian, Bungalow, Period Revival and Post WWII Cottage\/Ranch House.
