SUMMARY:Art Workshop - Monotype Magic with James Rees
DESCRIPTION:In this hands-on workshop\, we'll explore the playful world
 of mono-printing. Using ink\, everyday objects\, and a healthy dose of s
pontaneity. You'll experiment with mark-making\, color layering\, and gh
ost prints\, discovering how happy accidents and unexpected results are
part of the magic. No experience needed\, just curiosity and a willingne
ss to be surprised. You'll leave with a collection of original\, one-of-
a-kind artworks and maybe a new creative obsession.\n\nArt has been cent
ral to James Rees' life since childhood — from the moment he could hol
d an object\, he was using it to express himself. He studied art in coll
ege\, and though he never set out to be a teacher\, he has spent over tw
enty-seven years teaching at the high school\, college\, and university
levels\, driven by a desire to invite others to discover themselves thro
ugh art. A respected voice in arts education\, he has served as Pacific
Region Vice President for the National Art Education Association\, as Se
condary Division Director\, and has been appointed to the NAEA Research
Commission. A Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar\, he has received awards f
rom the NAEA and the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation\, along with nume
rous residencies and fellowships. He is an Art 21 Educator\, a former me
ntor teacher for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's TICA progr
am\, a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts\, and serves on
several national advisory boards and state art education committees —
all fueled by a deep passion for arts advocacy https://www.jamesreesart.
com\n\nThe workshop will be held at the Springville Museum of Art.\nPre-
register only by May 20th\, 2026.
