    The Alaska Fire still has hot spots and fire crews are still suppressing the fire and digging containment lines where they can. DON’T FLY DRONES anywhere near the fire, as that forces air crews to be grounded and puts fire crews at risk. The fire is 35% contained and covers about 489 acres. (containment is measured by the amount of containment ditch they’ve dug around the area)<\/p>\n

    August 1, 2019<\/h2>\n

    Fire crews are in the mop up phase on the Alaska Fire. Bartholomew Park has been reopened to the public. Firefighters are still on the mountain working and the airspace is still restricted. This morning a drone invaded the restricted airspace and forced air operations to stop. Be mindful of the fire crews and don’t get in their way in the air or on the ground.<\/p>\n

    We’re aware of a fire on the mountain near the Springville border. Fire authorities are aware of the fire. We’ll keep you updated on details. All residents should make sure they’re signed up for emergency alerts.

    Update<\/span> The fire has reached 375 acres. We should start seeing air support before long.<\/p>\n

    Update<\/span> Hotshot crews supported by helicopters and planes with water and retardant are making good progress on the Alaska Fire. If you watch the mountain closely, you can spot them fighting back the fire. They’re doing a great job slowing its growth!<\/p>\n
