Mayor’s Message

Spring 2026

Mayor Matt Packard

The winter of 2025 was one for setting records. We set record high temperatures and record low snowpack. Springville only experienced one day that required the city to use their snowplows (and it was mostly to salt intersections and hills). It was nice not to have to shovel walks and driveways, but, for this summer, it will require our community to be vigilant with our water usage.

The city council, directors and administration are well underway preparing budgets for the next fiscal year (FY2027) which starts July 1, 2026, and runs through June 30, 2027. In May, we will be presenting the FY2027 preliminary budget for approval to the city council.

You may have noticed a change around the intersection of 400 S and Main St. The “Allen’s” block is officially clear. There are no structures remaining and the asphalt parking lot has been removed. It is now a “clean palette” waiting for its future development.

After the strong canyon windstorm in March, that destroyed over 20 large trees from the Hobble Creek golf course, city staff and volunteers spent numerous hours clearing the aftermath. Because of their hard work, the golf course was able to reopen within a week of the devastation. Thank you to everyone involved who made it possible to reopen so quickly.
We are now underway preparing for a summer full of activities. Art City Days, our annual city celebration, will take place June 6, ending on June 13. Be sure to mark your calendars for a week full of family fun, great food, vendors, and activities for all ages.

As our nation prepares for its 250th birthday celebration, we are encouraging our community to participate in this event by spending time celebrating with family, friends, neighbors and others. We encourage neighbors to gather at our local parks and share a picnic with each other over the July 4th weekend. We are blessed to live in a great community and nation.
